Butterflies caught tenderly (2017)
XII Biennial of Young Artists, Museum of Contemporary Art. Skopje, Macedonia
In theory, the project refers to ontological lateness - the manner in which philosophical reflection is fated to lag behind its objects, and therefore unable to absolutely grasp being. The project also alludes to the creative process as fundamental in creating an artwork. The constant potential and ability (or inability) to “catch” the idea and to later communicate and articulate it, at the same time create anxiety and motivation for a closer approach to the idea. The creative process is in a sense similar to the attempt to catch butterflies: impossible because they fly, but at the same time very delicate due to their fragile nature. This process always exists somewhere between the anxiety against the will to create.
Enamel paint on 12 digitally printed photographies, mounted on fiberboard; variable dimensions (30x20x2.5 cm/ 20x15x2.5 cm/ 18x13x2.5 cm/ 13x9x2.5 cm) Enamel paint on 17 tin cans; variable dimensions
